SAXON is the newsletter of the Sutton Hoo Society. First published in November 1984 its purpose was to provide regular twice-yearly updates on the activities of the Society as well as updates on the progress of the Sutton Hoo Research Project’s work. Although the Sutton Hoo Research Project excavations closed in 1992, there was still post-excavation work to focus on. Since then SAXON has focussed on Society activities, including reports of lectures and excursions, articles on further and new research, and excavation work on other relevant sites.
